Because characters need to be simplified (you can’t include every single personality trait), writers tend to exaggerate those traits for artistic effect.

No better example can I give than the Dos Equis œMost Interesting Man.  In trying to say, œhe’s a super confident guy, they came up with: He once had an awkward moment¦just to see what it felt like.

Genius.  Here’s a guy who’s SO secure, he’s never had a weird moment, but to prove to you how secure he REALLY is and how that confidence means he hasn’t a problem being vulnerable or silly, we’re going to tell you he did have an awkward moment, just to see what it felt like. He’s not just about running with bulls or jumping out of planes, but having emotional adventures, too.

Brilliant. I want to suck the brain of whichever advertising team came up with that campaign.
