I’m beginning to see a pattern in my work: when I start a new manuscript, it’s a very awkward, almost painful, little dance. I’m not sure how the characters will manifest their personalities, not certain how the plot will overlay on the text¦I’m not certain of the steps and I find the process is more left-brain than right¦

Which is great, except writing IS a right-brain endeavour and I find myself caught in the œsit in this chair until you get your pages and (as Julia Cameron calls it in The Artist’s Way) refilling the well¦

Do other writer have this problem? You want to write, you know what it is you’re writing”it’s not really a case of writer’s block as much as it’s¦I don’t know¦the awkward writing shuffle?
