The landscape of writing a novel is, to me, like this picture.  When I first start out, I have some ideas of a plot, a thought–the “what if” of my story but it’s a lot like these trees…barren, with no color or texture. And the writing itself is the fog–I  kind of see where I’m going but much of my novel’s landscape is lost in cloud…it’s easy to give up because who knows where the story will go (if anywhere), but the trick to being a writer is being brave enough to risk walking into the fog…
