I’m breaking out of my chains, folks. Stepping out into a new frontier and seeking adventure. Hear me roar: *squeak* *squeak*

*ahem* roar?

I’ve wanted to attend a writer’s conference for a while. But I’ve held off, until now – been busy, you know. Painting that streak down my back and you’d be amazed how hard it is to cover up yellow. Got it to a nice golden wheat colour and figure I’m good to go. In the right light, it’ll be hard to notice.

But yes, I’ve signed up. I’m psyched about the conference in May. Terrified about the appointments – you get one meeting with either an agent or an editor to pitch your book. I’m hyperventilating just thinking about it – lucky (Annie, advantage #4) I’m short. If I pass out, I don’t have far to fall.

Pitch? I don’t know how to pitch and you know me. It takes me an entire bloody paragraph to say hello! The appointment is Saturday. Friday I’ve signed up for a workshop on how to pitch. At least I’ll have some preparation.

But I’m still scared. I’ve never been to one of these, don’t have a clue what to expect. Looking for stories from anyone who’s gone to one of these. And any experiences you’ve had with agents and editors. How did you find your editor/agent? Is it true that they hate it when you cry?

Good stories, bad stories. One will give me optimism, the other will give me comfort. Email me this way, I can respond back with questions like, “But what if they don’t like me?” without having to post and show the neon yellow that’s creeping from toes to head, to the entire world…although, I’ve sort of admitted it, haven’t I?
